The Council of Northeastern Governors (CONEG) and California Proposition 65 regulations limit the use of heavy metals (lead, mercury, cadmium, and hexavalent chromium) in packaging and packaging components that are sold and distributed throughout the US.

 

Organic Inks vs. Ceramic Inks

 

Here are the differences between the two types of inks that Quest offers.

 

Organic UV Inks

  • Adheres to the surface of the glass.
  • Cured at lower temperatures/Quick curing process.
  • Wide variety of color options.
  • Not as durable as Ceramic inks.
  • Susceptible to scuffing during transport.
  • Not recommended for high speed filling lines.

 

 

Ceramic Inks

  • Creates high durability near permanent bond with glass.
  • Cured at higher temperatures.
  • Restricted variety of color options due to restriction in using heavy metal containing inks per Prop-65 and CONEG regulations.
  • Higher durability prevents scuffing in transport.
  • Highly recommended for high speed filling lines.
